July 1 at C.R.A.F.T./qʷicčiƛma
Hello friends,
Please join us on July 1, 2026 at qʷicčiƛma studio. A complicated day for many, we aim to celebrate complexity and use this time creatively and lightly. This is our time.

Uncertainty is an opportunity. Current conditions are favourable for artistic innovation and what is emerging from art and artists lately is interesting and real. It's also fragile. Let's get together to celebrate these qualities, to support them and participate in them.

Potluck Lunch : Grain Bowls
We still have hundreds of paper bowls left from our first cauldron event, bowls bowls bowls, bowls for hot weather and works with dietary restrictions? Grain bowls! We'll have several base grains and toppings to choose from, and people can put together their own hearty-salad-bowl-type-of-thing. If you can, bring a topping for a grain bowl, or your special dressing, or maybe a dessert. Simple and easy is the goal. If bringing something isn't in the cards, no worries, come anyway.
Artists will lead the way.
Everyone on this list is a radical visionary with ideas for a more just, balanced, thriving, creative world. People can expect casual, friendly hanging out at this free event with as much shade as we can find.
- We have some seating, but if you have a spare portable chair, that might be good to bring.
- Kindly leave the closer parking spaces for folks who can't walk as far.
- It was really hot last year. Blazing. Plan accordingly.
- We appreciate those small gestures that help make grassroots events a success: Showing up, chatting with someone new, making sure the Elders have their plates and the kiddos aren't running into the street. If something on the food table needs adjusting, or you see a moment where something you can do makes things more beautiful, don't be shy.
Thanks in advance for your presence and care in support of art and people of all stripes.
Upcoming: Hiisʔuuwaa // Printing and Other Explorations July 12-17
C.R.A.F.T./qʷicčiƛma welcomes several coastal artists for a week of collective experimentation in mid-July. We will have lunch together daily. If you would like to stop by briefly, perhaps to support the visiting artists through jokes, connections, encouragement and maybe even an advance purchase, reach out to emily [at] craftpeople.ca and we can let you know as our plan emerges.
And Beyond
We'll reach out when it's time for our Firepit AGM (once the fire ban is lifted in the fall,) and artist(s) in residence in the winter-spring (C.R.A.F.T./qʷicčiƛma's incubation work season.)
We are excited to invite you to our first event using our new newsletter-website system. This is our main way of getting the word out to people, other than talking in person. If email news isn't your thing, thanks for your patience, there's an unsubscribe button below.
And, if you have a friend who would love this, they can sign up here.
C.R.A.F.T./qʷicčiƛma is an Indigenous-led, plural organization dedicated to supporting art and artists of all stripes.
