There is so much wealth.

There is so much wealth.

In June 2025, we made the difficult but practical decision to dismantle the Thieme Press, the one that started it all. As we progressed through the development of the studio, it became clear that it was always going to be finicky, and loud, and using lot of power, and taking up a lot of space. This press was designed for high production, and now that we are making our own inks, we know that it will be incredibly difficult to forage and process enough pigment to meet the production threshold of the press. We dismantled it by hand, re-using what we could and recycled the rest. We redeveloped the Thieme's huge metal vacuum table to be a perfect-height manual vacuum table that runs off an old Sears vacuum, much quieter and easier to operate, with much less power. It is a dream to work on. Once the press was reconfigured, we had room to bring in the Westman and Baker letterpress which is under restoration.

Now we have two options for people-powered printmaking.

If anyone reading this can use the Thieme's brain, a panel full of Mitsubishi sensors from the 90s, please reach out. Under the advice of our electrician Brennan, we saved as much of the wiring attached to them as we could.
