Tools and Space for Discussion, Risk Taking, and Building Something (Maybe)
When Tsimka and Michael came for a studio visit, everyone took a skein of some yarn laying around that got tangled up when it was in the dye pot. We untangled as we told each other stories for a few hours. So many good ideas came to light! Collaborations simmering. But nobody finished untangling, it was too complicated.

Then when Cathy came to help warp the new loom for the first time a few days later, an act of hope and expertise as we develop a blanket weaving situation, she noticed the piles of partly untangled yarn on the table. She said, "I'm going to take these home to work on them." The very next day, she handed over a bag of perfectly untangled balls, like some kind of speed untangler.
We remain protective of the artists in our orbit. Privacy in creation, space to have real conversations, develop real work, risky work. It's hard to know what to document sometimes, and what to leave to the imagination. For now, the document is yarn and a loom, and the work will come out, maybe on a stage or a piece of paper or in a digital file or a gathering, when it's ready.
